Pike Point on Lost Woman Lake has been the center of the Maki family universe since 1922. Ray Maki, grandson to the original owner, has spent all of his thirty-three years living on the rugged edge of a million acre wilderness - the Boundary Waters Canoe Area of northeastern Minnesota. Angie Holter can hardly wait to begin her overdue vacation. She feels the strong need to get away from the daily stresses of a busy St. Paul clinic, where she works as a Nurse Practitioner. A few relaxing days spent with her parents at their new lake home will be a welcome relief.
