Discover the story of enterprising Italian immigrant, Carlo Bodoni, who in 1911 leaves his home outside Cremona in Northern Italy at the tender age of 14, accompanied only by his violin.
After a few false starts, in 1917, he is drawn to Port Adelaide, South Australia by the love of a beautiful woman, and the chance to open his own business - the Imperial Ice Cream Factory.
Love and fidelity, hard work and determination see him overcome setbacks, so that by the 1930s, he's the gracious host of many glittering parties in the sumptuous ballroom of his elegant mansion named "Cremona House".
However, at the height of his success, his livelihood is threatened by a world economic downturn and the escalating military tensions in Europe and he must deal with an enormous personal loss.
In 1941, he is branded by the SA Police as the Number One Fascist in the state. Now his world is really unravelling. How will he and his family and also his beloved Cremona House survive?
