The power of the word. Nonsensical squiggles of ink on white that trace the letter, group to word, corral to sentence and meaning, carrying over distance and time the seed of an idea, the plot for a murder, the command for insurrection, the word of God.
The power of word fills spaces into which a brand new world will grow - or die - second by second, minute by minute, hour by inexorable hour, each and every day. And the substance we harness to power those words, will define which way we go.
Just as the photograph brings back the memory ...where we were, who we were with, and our eyes glaze over thinking back to those moments, some now, some so far away; some nowadays, only distant recollections. But the photograph brings so many of them flooding back.
So too, the word once written brings back so much more than mere brick, mortar and flashes of recollection. From dark recesses and hidden fears, vicious stabs of jealous spite, love and cruelty; all feature in the words of the poet, paying tribute, criticizing in disgust or celebrating in awe, as he looks on at a world so far beyond the mere realm of touch. And after time irrelevant, his feelings are still recalled and understood.
View From a Cocoon Looking In is a view from my perspective based on my values, my dreams and aspirations, my criticisms and my 'better ways'. Are they...better ways? Who knows, but they are mine from my heart, mind and soul. They are my view from my cocoon looking within for answers to what I think lies without, in a big crazy world. I hope you find some worth the read.
