This book addresses three fundamental questions: How can the nation be redefined from the margins? In what ways do migrant narratives demystify the dreamed paradise? To what extent does the displaced Other reclaim their identity in the host country? The five chapters explore the construction of national identity from the margins, analyzing a wide range of fictional and non-fictional works created by authors of African and Latin American descent. Through their self-representation, they challenge any discourse of homogeneity in the Spanish state. These cultural productions originate from various countries, cultures, and ethnic groups, tracing a synergistic trajectory through the diaspora and portraying a global Spain that rejects the imaginary of a homogeneous national identity.
