Skopje, North Macedonia, is one of the least well-known capital cities in Europe. Its population is just over half a million, making it one of Europe's smaller capitals but the largest city in the country.
Skopje is a city of statues. The city created Skopje 2014 to reinvigorate the city and promote tourism. This took the form of building statues. Guesstimates are that there are about 284 such statues scattered through the city.
