Neja was born to kill the false king. He cannot kill her, nor can she die while he still lives. So says the prophecy that has ruled her life since she was old enough to hold a sword. She has spent her life training for one singular moment: the last decisive swing of her sword in the final battle.
But when that battle comes, the unthinkable happens: the false king defeats her and chains her in his dungeon.
Beaten, tortured, and humiliated, Neja must confront an impossible question: who is she if the prophecy was always a lie?
But she hasn't considered an even worse possibility:
