Shiva Purana is oldest Purana known to human civilization. The stories were depicted as engravings on steatite stones and embossed on terracotta seals in Indus Valley Civilization which belonged to an era of 4500 BCE. There were depictions of Pashupathinatha, script of Kama Dahana, Daksha Yagna, and other symbols like Bull and depiction of a story where a man climbs on a Bilwa tree with a huge tiger just beneath it. SHIVA PURANA is full of allegory. It is a literary style invented by Indian writers thousands of years ago much before any western civilization could have known any creative writing.
An allegory is a form in which a superficial story runs which is seemingly irrelevant but with hidden truth again symbolically revealed in episodes of a story. Understanding this allegory of the stories of Shiva Purana is the primary aim of this book.
