Joe Silveira is a senior Catholic educational leader deeply committed to leading a faith-filled community that integrates Catholic virtues, academic excellence, and operational vitality. His leadership style is grounded in a holistic approach to education, emphasizing both rigorous academic standards and spiritual growth. He believes in maintaining a dynamic and forward-thinking approach and prioritizes collaborative leadership, building trust through
transparency; and uplifting Catholic life, inspiring excellence in Catholic education, and cultivating a healthy school climate and culture where students, faculty, and staff thrive.
Joe and his wife, Merrilee, are blessed with four children: their daughter, Sancianna, and three sons, Joseph, Christien, and Landen. In addition to his calling in Catholic education, Joe retired in June 2025 as a fifth-generation Angus cattle rancher rooted in the Martinez and Briones regions of Contra Costa County.
A lifelong learner, Joe's undergraduate and graduate studies reflect his passion for education. He earned a BS in Business Administration and Economics and an MS in Educational Leadership from Saint Mary's College of California, where he also completed a professional clear K-12 Multiple-Subject Teaching Credential and an Administrative Services Credential. He further progressed through the California School Leadership Academy in the early 2000s and later completed an Ed.D. in Teaching, Learning, and Administration in Higher Education from Gwynedd Mercy University in Pennsylvania. His doctoral research examined the leadership perceptions of experienced Catholic elementary principals regarding the factors that sustain them in their ministry.
Joe is honored to serve as principal of Christ the King Catholic School in Pleasant Hill, California. His family treasures their time together in Lake Tahoe, traveling abroad, celebrating life's milestones, and cultivating deep relationships within their faith community, extended family, and close friends.
Humbled and grateful to dedicate his life's work to Catholic education, Joe was deeply honored to receive the 2026 Signum Fidei Alumni Award from his alma mater, Saint Mary's College of California. His experience and devotion to faith and learning are guided daily by the Holy Spirit and by the sacred mission of forming hearts and minds for Christ.
