What if the only way to save your brother's life was to become a spy?
1940, Sydney.
World War II rages across the globe. But so far, Frances Davies has managed to avoid the firsthand toils of combat. That all changes, though, when her brother is reported missing-in-action in Singapore.
Fuelled by the burning desire to find her sibling - and stoked by fury over the ruined relationship with her first-love after he was wrongfully detained as a prisoner-of-war - Frances agrees to become a covert agent for the Resistance. She is code-named "Funnel-Web" - just like the infamous arachnids of her homeland.
Behind enemy lines, Frances must survive some of the most lethal environments in human history - Nazi-occupied Paris, gulag-infested Eastern Europe, and treachery-laden Asia - with instructions to ensnare her targets by any means necessary.
To what lengths will Frances go to find her brother? How entangled will she become in her own web of spies?
