Jason Flom created the Lulu book series with his daughter, Allison Flom. The books grew out of the family's bulldog, Lulu, and a simple idea the two of them shared: everyone deserves to be seen for who they really are. In 2025, Lulu Is a Rhinoceros became an animated musical special on Apple TV, co-executive produced by Jason and Allison with original songs by Allison and a cast that includes Auliʻi Cravalho, Alex Newell, Dulé Hill, Paul Rust, Utkarsh Ambudkar, and Rhys Darby. Beyond children's books, Jason is co-founder and CEO of Lava Media and one of the country's leading advocates for criminal justice reform. As a record executive, he helped launch Lorde, Katy Perry, Paramore, and Matchbox Twenty, among many others. The thread through his work, across books, television, music, and reform, is a belief that the right story can change how people see each other. Allison Flom is a writer from New York City, passionate about replacing judgment with curiosity. She wrote the ANNIE-nominated script and lyrics for the Apple TV musical special Lulu is a Rhinoceros, and created the award-winning podcast Erased. Allison leads weekly art workshops with incarcerated women and is committed to supporting system-impacted New Yorkers. She loves co-authoring the Lulu stories with her dad! Sophie Corrigan is a children's book illustrator and author whose many books include I'm a Little Monkey, which was selected as a Highly Commended Book in the Macmillan Prize for Children's Literature. When she's not creating books or working as a freelance illustrator for clients like Hallmark, Corrigan hangs out with her pet cockatiels and occasionally makes cute things from wool and clay. She is also the illustrator of Lulu is a Rhinoceros, also published by Greystone Kids.
