Sid Mead (1933-2019) was an American industrial designer and neo-futurist concept artist. Starting out as a designer for Ford Motor Company, U.S. Steel and Philips Electronics, Mead went on to establish himself as a 'futurist' consultant, visualizing technology and products for a variety of companies. He made designs for sci-fi films such as Blade Runner, Star Wars, Aliens, Tron, Star Trek, Timecop, 2010, Tomorrowland and Elysium. Mead has been described as 'the artist who illustrates the future' (HEAVY Magazine) and 'one of the most influential concept artists and industrial designers of our time' (Curbed).
