Robert M. Hauser is one of the preeminent sociologists and social statisticians of his generation. He has served for more than fifty years at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, making fundamental contributions to the study of social stratification in advanced industrial societies. His books include Evidence: The Use and Misuse of Data, with Adrianna Link (American Philosophical Society Press) and The Process of Stratification: Trends and Analyses, with David L. Featherman. In 2005, Hauser was elected as a member of the American Philosophical Society, and served as the Society's Chief Executive Officer from 2017 to 2025.
