On a Midwest tour, saxophonist Nico Bellini notices that the band's fuel receipts describe a journey no itinerary contains. The numbers are stubborn: the coach has traveled two hundred extra miles. What begins as an accounting irritation becomes a map of secret meetings, false signatures, duplicate fuel cards, and a producer who knows too much about an unreleased recording the band has spent years pretending never existed.
As the musicians reconstruct the hidden route, a failing marriage and a quiet attempt to sell the band's back catalogue turn every explanation into a motive. Dryly comic, psychologically claustrophobic, and obsessed with the humiliating difference between what people remember and what paperwork proves, Mileage follows five exhausted musicians as they discover that every secret eventually leaves a receipt-and some receipts point to murder.
